Jessica Mardon graduated from RCA MA Sculpture (2022) where she was awarded the WES Lunn Design Education Trust 4D Project Award. Mardon lives in London UK, working across performance and installation with a primary interest in sound. When the experience of a ground which appeared solid gives way, structures fall flat and loose their meaning.

Touching the nerve of this shift, she engages with a world not of fact and things, but of constructs and desires, stripping the senses into naked feelings.

Decomposing the body into drives and forces, she seeks the tender spot in the curvature of the tone.

THE RECOVERY OF MEANING |

What’s in a voice? One of history’s most powerful voices; the Oracle at Delphi, reigned for some
thousand years. She was consulted on the most important matters of the day and without question her voice obeyed. The cave at Delphi, a temple underworld so magnificent, it takes your breath.

The site of continuous ritual worship for 12,000 years, I arrive on Easter Sunday, to find embers still burning, offerings draped over forms inside.. ‘The Recovery of Meaning,’ remembers a time when the Voice was believed to be a vibration that structured the Universe.

When numbers weren’t merely units of measurement, but Cosmogenic entities who’s forces tell the story of its motions and returns. Where matter pulses and the Cosmos is a listening dish. Where Magic hasn’t yet ceased to exist.
