Natacha Lamounier is a Brazilian artist and researcher, based in Denmark, that works with Media Arts and has a multidisciplinary background. Natacha holds an Erasmus Mundus Master in Arts from the joint Universities of Krems (Austria), Aalborg (Denmark), and Lodz (Poland). She has two BA degrees: in Materials Engineering from the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (Brazil) and in Fashion Design from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil).

Natacha's main research areas are queer feminism, interspecies communication, and human-machine interactions approached from a ritualistic perspective.

In her art practices, she uses diverse mediums, such as sounds, collages, uncanny materials, and electronics. At ImKonsthall, Natacha is produced a VR piece called “It is about people and tress” (IIAPAT), based on the histories of 5 artists from different continents about their personal and professional experiences during Covid. The piece will invite the audience to look inward, reflecting on the emotions related to quietude, isolation, loss, and cure.

IT IS ABOUT PEOPLE AND TREES

The artwork "It is about people and trees" approaches VR as a sound experience. The audience is invited to listen to a conversation among media artists from distinctive parts of the globe, while immersed in a landscape with flickering trees, snow shadows, and technological distortion. Intertwined with the artist's talk, there is a poem/prayer co-created by me and AI. The voices tell my history since I started working with media art, passing through pandemic times, to this day on the artistic residency at Moskosel Creative Lab.

I believe it is essential that we listen to others, so we can relate to them and realize that we pass through similar experiences, even if we come from different places. We are not the same, but we are all people. We are all trees.
